Your Library Account

Your Library Account

As a member of the Library you automatically have a Library Account. You should check Your Library Account regularly to monitor your library transactions and thus prevent fines accumulating.

Library Account PIN

See the PIN [Info] link from Your Library Account screen for details about Your Library Account PIN number. If you forget your PIN, please email Lending Services (JA campus) or telephone 0141 548 4617/4625. A new temporary PIN will then be issued. For security reasons your new PIN number can only be collected in person or sent to your University email account - i.e. @strath.ac.uk  
A Change your PIN? option is available from your Library account.

Contact Details

This shows your address details held by the Library. If these are not correct, please inform the Lending Services staff (JA campus) or the Circulation Desk (JHill campus).

Items on Loan

This lists the titles you have on loan, the date each item is due for return and the status - On loan or Renewed with the due date displayed. In this section you may renew your loans.
Please note - serials do not appear on Your Library Account. They should be renewed by telephone or in person.

Requests Information

This section gives details about the hold requests you have placed, but which are not yet available (Requests Pending) and hold or recalled items waiting to be collected by you (Items Available). For other requests, eg. Store or Theses please check at Reader Services Division

Fines and Fees

Here you will find details of any outstanding fines or fees that you owe.

Renewing your loans

The quickest way to renew the items recorded on loan to you is to use the renewal function in Your Library Account.
In the Renew? column, click on the boxes next to the items you wish to renew. If you select an item that you decide you do not want to renew, click the box again to deselect it. Make sure you have checked all the items that need renewing by using the scroll bar on the right hand side of the screen.
Click on the Renew Items button
Once Your Library Account has reloaded, an additional column Renewal Status will display on the right hand side of the screen. This shows you if your loan has been renewed or not. If the item cannot be renewed the display will say Cannot Renew.

Renewals not allowed

if the item has been requested by another user
if the item is in the Short Loan Collection
if the item has already been renewed 3 times consecutively
if you have fines of £10 or more

Logging out of your Library Account

Remember to click on the Exit button at the top of the Your Library Account screen to disconnect from this service and prevent your details being available for others to view.
