Strathclyde undergraduate and postgraduate students do not need to join the Library. Your current Strathclyde student ID card also acts as a Library card. Full access on and off campus to electronic library services is available. | |

Reference access is available to students from the following institutions on production of a valid student card: Glasgow University, Glasgow Caledonian University, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow School of Art, and University of the West of Scotland. Glasgow University Research Postgraduates |
Glasgow University Research Postgraduates can apply for borrowing rights on production of a current matriculation card and a letter of introduction from the Head of Lending Services, Glasgow University Library. Walk in access to electronic library services is available. | |
SCONUL Access |
Academic staff, part-time, placement, distance learning and postgraduate students from other member institutions can apply for borrowing rights under the SCONUL Access scheme. Walk in access to electronic library services is available. | |
SCONUL Vacation Access Scheme |
During University of Strathclyde vacations, matriculated students from other HE institutions are offered reference access. No access to electronic library services is available. | |
Strathclyde University employees |
Strathclyde academic and other staff can complete an online membership form or apply in person at Lending Services in the Main Library. Staff should present photographic ID such as a staff card when applying for and collecting a Library card. We may also require a document (such as a current utility bill) confirming a UK home address. Full access on and off campus to electronic library services is available. | |
Retired Staff |
Retired Staff of the University of Strathclyde can join the Library on production of photographic ID and proof of address - this should be a current utility bill or similar document. Membership will last for three years from date of application. No access to electronic library services is available. | |
University of Strathclyde graduates |
Paying for membership (1). Subscription membership is available on proof of identification for the following: For Graduates and Diplomates of the University of Strathclyde and of the former Jordanhill College at the rate of £30 pa (inc. VAT). Applicants should bring photographic ID and proof of address - this should be a current utility bill or similar document - to Lending Services and complete an application form. Walk in access to electronic library services is available and can be obtained without payment if the additional benefits of full subscription membership are not required. |

Other university graduates |
Paying for membership (2). Other university graduates can join the library for a fee of £45 p/a (inc. VAT). Applicants should bring photographic ID and proof of address - this should be a current utility bill or similar document - to Lending Services and complete an application form. Walk in access to electronic library services is available. |

Jordanhill Library |
Main Library membership entitles the user to access all part of the University Library system. Membership arrangements at Jordanhill Library may differ, however. For example, schools are not entitled to take out membership as corporate subscribers in order to use the collection at Jordanhill. | |
Visitors to the Library |
If you do not qualify for membership of the Library or walk in user access to electronic library services, you may be able to apply for temporary reference access to the print collection. | |
